At my place of work we have business people up most weeks who stay in motels. Feedback of late is Novetel/Crown are both very tired and in need of a renos. Mantra (previously the Saville) is a favourite and right on the Esplande. I would consider the Casino which is not too far out of town and they have a great breakfast buffet. The Airport Resort is also lovely but a taxi ride from the city
I wld also think of booking soon because I know of a couple of conferences in Darwin in October so accomodation may be scarce
