Both Lombok and Java are worth a visit...both are different and also the people. Lombok of course is smaller and has fantastic beaches in the south...their very own Kuta and a small tourist centre with some good restaurants and bars up the west coast at Senggigi. It is all lay back and much less tourists. Not far are the Gilis...you can choose between, lively, layback and quiet.
In Java the first place would be Yoja and the temples and the home of batik.
Once you have tried these there is also Komodo dragons over Flores way or great beaches and diving in North Sulewesi. Mountains, lakes and orangutans in Sumatra.
I think there is a Visit Indonesia site on internet.
