Hi. We left Adelaide via Sydney with Jetstar on 30th May for 20 glorious days in Bali. Had a 6hr wait in Sydney, my choice as I was going to meet my Dad for lunch but didn't happen. We ended up leaving our cases at International ($9 per bag from memory) and going into Circular Quay for that time. With breakfast, luggage, fares lunch etc it ended up being an expensive 6 hours. However we did get cheap fares $706 Adelaide return from memory so a little wait was no issue. We were (my 7th visit, husband 5th visit, and two lady friends who have been 9 and 3 times).
Back to work tomorrow but will continue with Legian and our wonderful Ubud accommodation in Part 2. Feel free to ask any questions
Has been a very busy past 10 months with a family death, a major operation, renovating home of 21years, buy a property in Sydney and moving my 76 year old mother back after 21years in SA and sell our house so we were exhausted both physically and emotionally and really hanging out for this holiday. Knowing how we were feeling we deliberately planned the holiday to our pace.
Arrived Bali 10pm after being 20 minutes late leaving Sydney due to a couple who were dining somewhere in the terminal and missed the boarding call. Plane cheered when they finally got on and we were off. Made up about 30 mins as we arrived early. Friend waiting with driver and we were off to our first six nights in Sanur. Stayed at the Sari Sanur villa's behind the Bonsai Café. Lovely little hotel with about 18 bungalow type villas set around a pool. Large main bedroom, large verandah and a lovely sunken shower in stone bathroom. Simple but very comfortable. Breakfast served on our verandah each morning as there is no restaurant and no pool bar but this suited us perfectly. Staff friendly and an easy walk out to the main street or the beach via the Bonsai.
After six nights at Sanur, we boarded the Scoot Boat for 3 nights on Lembongan. We had considered going over on the Bounty but the price had gone up significantly for transfers $75US return where the Scoot Boat was $35 return per person so much better value. Stayed at Villa Rumah Kami. Komang the Manager was great. He contacted me prior to transfer to confirm prices and times and met us at the beach when we arrived. The villa was lovely, a little isolated in terms of being able to walk anywhere but that suited us and Komang is able to arrange transport if needed. Komang explained that he had a simple menu as he was a new cook so we thought that we would try his food and then go out for meals if we wanted a change but to be honest his food was delightful with exquisite flavours and presentation so we ate all our meals at the villa which is something we wouldn't usually do. We really enjoyed our time at the Villas it gave us a chance to unwind in wonderful surroundings with great views, company and food. Maree a co-owner was very helpful with our booking and giving information re transfers etc.
Our transfer back was exciting. The Scoot boat transfer truck broke down just out of Lembongan village and after much cursing and only moving 200metres in 30 mins I rang Komang who came to assist. It was decided that the truck was ‘broken' so we needed to go on motor bikes to the beach. I jumped on with Komang who had my small case at his feet and off we went down the hill. The other three were helped by locals who just stopped to assist. They very kindly took the bags and the others and dropped them down at the beach. Scoot boats were great and waited for us to arrive. We were 30 mins late by this time but no worries.
Legian and Ubud accommodation to follow. Please feel free to ask any questions.
