the Saville (now the Mantra on Hay) is really nice. Have stayed there myself. You can catch the local CAT buses up into the city mall (all the CAT buses in the city are free), and they also take you to Kings Park which is nice to visit - you get a great view of the city from Kings Park - well worth a visit if you haven't been to Perth before.
