Day 15
Last day, final brekkie and a swim before we checked out from Novotel Nusa Dua and stuck our luggage into storage.
Off we trundled to the Hardrock to try the day use of the pool. 350 000RP gets you a family pass, towels and a cabana with a lockable drawer for valuables. Our cabana was over the pool and the kids had much delight in jumping straight in. This was a fab & relaxing way to spend our last day. The pool area was extensive with a beach island. They pipe music into the water and there is a swim up bar. The kids both also had a go on a climbing wall. The food and drinks are on the expensive side but it certainly works out cheaper than a full day at Waterbom. You can shower and freshen up before you leave.
Back to Nyomans Beer Garden in Nusa Dua for dinner and drinks. The bar staff are all wannabe actors from Cocktail the movie. They spun bottles about and kept the kids entertained. We bought them all a beer which they knelt down to drink so the boss didn't see.
We collected our bags and gave in to a driver from the resort which was only 30 000 RP dearer than a taxi. This guy must have thought that anyone going to the airport was in a rush because he drove like an absolute maniac. I have never seen Balinese road rage before but this bloke had it. We came up to a set of traffic lights and a 4WD half turned in front of us running a red. He pulled up, wound down his window, carcked up a big goober and gobbed all over this bloke's windshield! Needless to say we sat there in stunned silence for the rest of the trip.
After the Jetstar check-in we hopped in the Dewi Lounge, 200 000 for the four of us. I downed ¼ a bottle of gin and half a sleeping tablet in a hope to sleep on the plane. Nah still didn't work. We prefer the Dewi to the Prada as we find the lighting dimmer and the food better. Oh & they have Bintang on tap!!!!!! (big bonus)
And that's about it. I'm apparently everybody's 'Boss' and Josh must change his name to 'Boy'. We keep saying we will do an island tour one day and get out to Lombok & the Gillies.
We stopped in Melbourne for the morning on the way back to Hobart. An Aus$70 taxi ride to my wife's brothers place and picking up a $66 bill for a restaurant brunch made me appreciate how cheap things really are in Bali.
It's been 3 weeks since I've had an AFD (although I haven't been plastered). I drank my bottle of duty free Port over the last three nights & the Bombay Sapphire keeps winking at me in the hall. I've watched my Bali copy of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (which was obviously shot in a foreign cinema) and I'm glad I only paid $1 for it. What was George LUCAS thinking?
Bali is probably 3-4 years off although the travel bug bites at least once a year. We may have been suckered by the large & cheeky 'Make Malaysia your next holiday' sign as we drove into Denpasar Airport, who knows............................
