Day 3

3am and young Josh was awake with mild stomach cramps. Well, he did complain of a sore tummy on the plane. Are we bad parents? We thought he would come right. He didn't go back to sleep and we said, nahh it's just a one off, he'll be right. Perhaps he just needs to eat plain food for a few days?

Brekkie and a swim then off for a wander in Southern Sanur. We wanted to check out Villa Puri Ayu Bungalows after reading so many positive reports. We were dropped off near Cat & Fiddle and I insisted that it was between there & the beach. Now the wife has a finely tuned radar for many things but directions just isn't on that wavelength. She insisted it was the other way which saw us walking towards Ubud I think. After finally asking directions to the beach we ended up near Kesumas Restaurant. We had some refreshments at a deserted Nyomans S S & S Bar and lunch at Donald's at the Beach. What a great little restaurant. Josh the poor little bugger looked longingly at the pancakes being brought out to other diners as he ate his plain tucker.

After lunch my daughter had her hair braided for 70000RP and we found Villa Puri Ayu which is you guessed it 50m from Cat & Fiddle towards the beach. Puri Ayu advertises itself as a quiet oasis and that's what it really is. We couldn't see the new Emerald Villas as they were all booked out but from the outside they look great. The main pool area looked very enticing. I can only think that our kids may upset the tranquillity of the joint so we put it our definitely maybe list for when they are a little bit older.

We decided to go upmarket at the Village Restaurant for dinner. By that I mean $6 - $8 mains. Now this is a swanky looking & intimate joint. The food is top notch with an Italian theme. I rate Italian places on my creamy seafood pasta scale. I place the Village at number 5 on my extensive list. My wife placed her ravioli as her equal number 1!! . This really isn't a kids place but we can convert anything without putting others out. i.e eat early, sit far away from honeymooners and snobs, have a behave in restaurants regime and keep them busy with games such as noughts & crosses, hangman, eye spy and my ever favourite spot the gecko.

Josh stayed on plain foods. During the day he seemed OK. He wasn't 100% but he was still going gangbusters in the pool and wasn't running to the loo. He still had a sore tummy which ranged between 1-6 on Dads pain or uncomfortable scale. That is 0 being no pain and 10 being unbearable. My wife insists the scale should be the other way around. My goodnight comment was, 'Chin up fella you'll come right then you can a have a huge feed'.
