The problem is not Ramadan, as the muslims are fasting then, but Idul Fitri. Actually toward the end of Ramadan there will be some great sales as the new clothes are required. Idul Fitri this year is October 1 and 2. Java almost closes down for a week and it really seems that they all come over to Bali. Not only the family etc but also their SUV's. At that time it is quicker to walk from Kuta to Legian than it is to catch a taxi. Even the ride from the aiport to Kuta takes forever. No exagerration. The one time I will not return to Bali. I was staying at the Kuta Paradiso one year when it was Idul Fitri (travel agents here are not aware of Indonesian holidays) and the hotel was so full that they had to use the ball room as a second breakfast area with another buffet set up.
I don't know what the other parts of Bali are like at that time. I am sure you will still have a great holiday just that everything will be slower than usual. Cheers, Stormy
