Lion Air was first airline to fly the 900ER which is a "stretched" version of the 737-800NG. They have a huge order with Boeing for this model - think from memory around 58.
I have flown Lion between Denpasar and Manado. Whilst the aircraft are new they are "bare bones" models. Apart from the leather seats (which are REALLY tight), the planes are incredibly basic - as is their service. No TV Monitors for safety announcement which was done manually by crew.
My flight Denpasar/Manado was actually Rp.400,000 more than my Manado/Denpasar flight with Garuda - plenty of space and full service.
Lion Air and its "sister" Wings Air are notorious for being late with Wings regularly cancelling services on some routes like Manado/Sorong.
I met last Friday with the Lion Air Manado Manager who has assured me that with more aircraft being added to their domestic fleet, Lion's "on-time factor" is improving all the time.
