basically you need to consider the horrifying electricity bill.
Fridgys say around 23++ deg or 6 1/2 on the old RAC's is a reasonable setting. Power is chewed when the compressor is continuously kicking in to maintain low temps.
Timers are a good idea to use as the early part of the evening is when you really need the humidity taken out.
We use ceiling fans non stop except in early morning during the dry.
One time we put the air con on to 23deg to get "warm" that was during a holiday in NZ. :-))
