"How do dolphins swallow fish??
Dolphins swallow fish whole, head first. This way, the dolphin may avoid injury from the fin or tail spines of the fish. They do not use their teeth to chew. If they have a large fish, they may use their beak to break the fish upon the bottom of the seafloor. When they do this, they often do not consume the head of the fish. "

It's been recorded & documented that it's quite normal for wild dolphins to assist other injured or unwell dolphins. They are very protective of each other.
When i visited the Bunbury Dolphin Discovery Centre this year, one of the bay's dolphins was hiding out in an area protected by rocks. A large chunk of it's flesh had been taken by a shark. Other dolphins were seen to chase schools of fish into the area where the dolphin was sheltering. Another femalae has adopted the injured dolphin's calf.
If Melka contacted world-wide wildlife org's they would receive a lot of information and help about the possibility of releasing their dolphins into the wild. I doubt they have because these very stressed dolphins ( all captive dolphisn suffer enormous stress ) are a great money earner , in the same way their other circus animals are.
