Books to Bali

I know you said you don't want to weigh your luggage down too much, but I always find I don't take that much over with me so have plenty of room to take books with me. I tend to do the rounds of the local markets in the lead up to my Bali trips. I pick up second hand paperbacks for a couple of dollars each. Usually take 5 or 6 of them with me and leave them when I'm done. Last trip I actually did some swaps with people in the rooms around me, then when we were all swapped out, we left the finished books at the hotel pool bar. They had a reasonable stash there for people to borrow as well.

So even if you really don't want to take any with you, a lot of hotels do have a bit of a library of books that have been left behind by other guests.
