the economic downturn might start to bite hard(er) soon and holidays will be put on the back burner for families whilst they struggle just to put food on the table and pay rent/petrol/education fees.
We (at least in the West) have enjoyed an extended "purple patch". Have no doubt, this will not last for ever.
Bali is, and always has been, attractive to the average holiday maker because it is a cheap holiday, and if you think I am being cynical just read the JBR's...how much (or little) people paid for items/food/accomodation is by far the most common denominator.
Add to that the ripple effects in Bali of the rising cost of fuel.
Of course, there are "hardliners" like some (most?)here on BTF that will sell the house, move into a mobile home, exist on bread and water and send the kids to public school to finance our trips, but despite impressions to the contrary the majority of tourists do not feel like us.
