Hi there, we returned 2 weeks ago and my kids aged 8 & 10 did lessons with Bali Learn to Surf they are based at the Hard Rock Hotel. There were adults in the same class but they allow one instructor per 2 people.
They spent 1/2hr in the pool at Hard Rock and then over the road to the beach for 2 hrs.
We booked at one of the tour operators in the side of the streets, they are everywhere. It cost US$20 per kid and included board, rashie and water to drink.
It was the highlight of the holiday, they had a ball.
There were other surf schools down at the beach but some didnt seem to look very organised.
We booked the day before and just got told the best time was 2pm the next day due to the weather and tides, we didnt get to choose morning or afternoon.
If you walk up the driveway at the Hard Rock the entrance to the Hotel is straight ahead but at the top of the drive to the left is the surf school or just ask the security guards at the gate.
I hope this helps, let me knw if you need more info.
Cheers
