AMED is the name referring to a 12km stretch of coastline which begins with the small village of Amed. There are beautiful views of Mount Agung from here. After Amed is Jemeluk [great diving], Bunutan and then a long straight stretch before the villages of Lipah, Lean and Selang. Banyuning and As are next. These villages are all considered to be in AMED.
The beaches at Lipah, Lean & Selang are all sandy.. a mix of golden & volcanic sand... and are by far the best areas to stay if you like the beach and snorkling.
Before Lipah, the beaches/coastline are black sand mixed with shingly stones and rocks.
At Banyuning the beach is very stoney.. but there is a small japanese shipwreck, just off shore. Easy to snorkle to and lots of coral.
There is a new resort there Baliku which has stunning views.
