Cash Passports

I have been hearing about these travelex cash passports and was jsut wondering what peoples opinions/experiences with them are. To me the atm withdrawal fee is up on par with what my bank will charge me (around 4$) for my normal savings account.
Is there any advantages of getting these cards or should I stick to just cash in the safe of my hotel room? I'll be staying at BGH and have heard disturbing things about the safes there.

Any help/advice much appreiated.
