you could try this.go along to the hotel with your balinese friends and book in,they can be just welcoming you to bali.then you just let them stay there in your place while you go off and do your thing,they dont need to front up for breaky or any other activities that they feel isnt their scene.cant see a problem with that,as long as the hotel has your voucher which allows them to get paid for the accommodation provided.
