We were thinking of going to Bali through July and August. We wanted to just book the first few days and then hire a jeep and go off and do our own thing. We have often done this over the years, but some of the posts here have said it will be very busy in August and you need to book. We wanted to escape from the winter here and stay in out of the way places, but if it's going to be a problem to find reasonable accommodation without booking, we'd prefer to go later. Would be grateful for any comments.
