Massages
I picked up a recommendation for a therapeutic massage from Rochelle in respect to Mr Novian. This gentleman has given me back the use of my right forearm which used to give me a lot of pain from RSI issues. I had one on the second day of our trip and then a second on the last day. He charges 150,000 per hour and his treatment takes 1.5 hours (it did for me). It might be that a shiatsu massage by anyone would have done the trick, but not for that price. He also picked up that I was suffering from stress and fatigue and promised me some chinese herbs - but these did not eventuate. I think he is older than he looks and his memory fails him. Word on his work must be spreading because he told me that the day before he did my second treatment he had 10 Australians. He attributes this to Tanya and Gary and takes pride in wearing the Hamersley Iron tee shirt they gave him.
His contact number is 08123963701.
You meet him at your hotel reception and pretend he is a friend. Otherwise, he has problems with hotel staff wanting commission and would need to put his rates up to accommodate this.
Our group had massages all over the place but without exception Jari Menari proved most popular for both treatment and ambience.
Bargaining
Our son, whom we havn't been to Bali with since he was 13, has his own very unique method of bargaining. He takes hold of what he wants to purchase and holds out money. He says, without exception, this is always taken. He then says thank you, I don't need a bag, and walks off. Well, both ourselves and the stall holder were speechless when we saw this but was followed by gales of laughter on both sides. I must admit he does hand over a very fair amount. His explanation is that he has no patience (which we're very well aware of) and this method saves a lot of hassle and time wasting. Very true.
