As most of you are aware we have been slowly booking our holiday over the past couple of months, doing the whole package ourselves, except for when Flight Center decided to 'beat our price'.

What we've put together is Gold Coast to KL, 3 nights Kl, KL to Surabaya, 2 nights Surabaya, Surabaya to Bali, 16 nights Bali, Bali to KL, a day in KL, then back to Gold Coast, Travel Insurance = $1221 each.

As my mum lives near Coolangatta she was nominated taxi and car storage, the charge for this service is 10 DVD's apparently.

We had dinner at Airport Taven which is located outside the airport on a service road that runs paralel to the Gold Coast Highway.
Parked out the back of the Taven (2 hour free parking).
Had our usual 'steak' fix before we go.
Partner had rump salad chips with mushroom sauce, I had rib with same but Dianne sauce, mum went the schnitzel.
Steak dinners were $24 and huge and definatley worth it, chicken schnit was $16 and again huge.
In summary good size meals for the money and a nice lead up to the holiday.

Oh partner congratualated the barman for actually being able to pour a beer, so barman shouted him another.

Dinner and in the car for the drive into airport, international terminal is mere meters passed the domestic terminal. Told mum 'just dump and run' don't worry about parking.
So into the set down point right outside the terminal doors, hugs kisses and goodbyes and in we go, its now 1915 (flight is at 2135).

Air Asia check in counter was alittle to our right as we walked in, about 4 staff were processing us, checkin took approx 2mins.
I was relived to see my piece of paper that i printed out actually meant something - whew.

With time to kill we check out whats on offer.
A newsagentcy, Coffee Shop (Coffee @ Kirra) and Rainbow Bay Ale House.
So to the Ale House it was.
Internet kiosk available, but also wireless.
I drag out the boarding passes and we fill them out (i always have spares just incase). Partner took 3 attempts but eventually lined up all the information in the correct boxes (i must remember to restock supply for next trip).

A few drinks later and time to be processed. We haven't travel in the last 12 months so weren't real sure about the liquids. Zip lock bags are provided and anything under 100mls is acceptable, but only one bag full per person.
Lady at newsagency told us that the cafe in the departure lounge would be closed so we wouldn't be able to purchase a bottle of water to take on the plane - panic!!!! We love our water and a long flight without being to have a drink when we wanted didn't sound too apealing.
So we checked out what everyone else in the line was doing, alot had bottles of water and alot had empty bottles mmmmmm what to do? So we purchased a bottle of water and drank it - one empty bottle.

Got through customs check no problem, partner got election for random 'explosives test' so over to the side we go and he gets the rub over and pat down and thank you very much and we are on out way. Told the guy after the meal we just ate, if he waited another 2 hours he might have detected something (different kind of explosion though).

Departure area was pretty full, you walk through Duty Free shop first, small but has a good variety.
The Cafe was open and i checked operating times and they stay open until last flight has boarded.

The Plane!! The Plane!!!....Next.

Sorry this may seem a bit all over the place, but partner is tapping beside me impaitently to hit the streets of KL....see ya!!!
