Try not to make it too long. My first trip back in 4 years. Went with 2 girlfriends. Flew Air Asia to KL, then a flight to Singapore for a couple of nights then onto Bali. Seems like we did the 'Bali Travel Forum 101 Course' . Stayed at Puri Raya, clean rooms albeit small for a triple (mind you went on a cruise with 3 gfs last year so used to small confines). Service good, only had breakfast there a couple of times as liked to go to The Coffee Shoppe down the road for lattes and breakfast. Checked out the Melati Apartments behind the coffee shop and would definitely stay there next time.
Went on Bali Baik with Wayan. The girls and I all agree was a highlight of our trip. Had breakfast overlooking volcano, then set off on our bikes for a 24 km ride through neighbouring villages and rice fields. Was mainly downhill with a few challenging hills. Couple of Dutch girls on the ride who I'm convinced thought it was the 'tour de france' and set a cracking pace, which I strongly resisted. Arrived at the owner Wayans house in Ubud where we met his family and his wife had cooked an amazing feast. Would have to say it is a must do in Bali.
Ate: Ku De Ta - fantastic meal, setting, service and yes expensive by Bali standards but well worth the splurge. Tanayas for wonderful Tempanyaki, Drops and Indo National both great and went to Sharkies at Jimbaran for dinner, which was great and they picked us up and took up back home too which was a bonus. Coffee Shoppe across from Poco Loco (in front of Melati Apartments) - great service, coffee, burgers and banana pancakes. Café Moka in Seminyak was also great for lunch.
Shopping..Geneva - has improved a lot since my last trip, bought lots of bling at a jewellery shop in Seminyak - Abang I think. We bought lots of paintings from a few different places.
Spas - The girls loved their Hot Stone Massages from Melasti spa, also had pedicures, manicures, facials etc etc.. Went to Mirah Salon and I had eyelash extensions - when I sat up I declared I looked like Priscilla Queen of the Desert or someone out of Les Girls.
Left Bali for KL for a couple of nites (wouldn't bother going to KL again) then flew home with Air Asia to Gold Coast.
All in all a fabulous trip and already planning our next one.
