DO NOTHING until your wife can verify it was ANZ who contacted her. HOAX or SPAM emails are occurring daily.
Otherwise maybe try this
+61 3 9683 9999 or+61 3 9683 8833. which are for ANZ customers overseas. Not toll free though I'm afraid.
It sounds like either someone else has tried to use your card or the banks think you are fraudulent.
