We live in sydney but having had all the R&R of a great holiday destroyed by cramped overnight flights- we now only travel on day flights. This is possible if you live in perth but all other flights leave at the horrendous midnight hour.
An expensive alternative is to get the flight back to OZ to Perth which leaves at midday. Then a connecting flight to your home town. To me it's worth the extra cost to arrive back home as relaxed as when you left .
