You are not allowed to leave your hotel from very early hours (maybe officially 6am) on Nyepi day until 6 am Saturday 8th.
There will be no bikes on the streets, no cars, no aeroplanes, you cant walk out on to the street or beach. Balinese 'guards' do patrol the streets to ensure everyone stays within their hotel, house, villa boundaries.
It is amazing the sounds you will hear that you dont ever usually hear. If you are staying back from the beachfront, its amazing how you can hear the surf rolling in. Its a wonderfully relaxing day in Bali.
Make sure you check and book restaurant for Nyepi eve, as some are closed, and some will close earlier. As Didi mentioned we had terrible difficulty getting transport back from Kuta to Legian after the Nyepi parade and our dinner at Uns.
