Ive been traveling to Bali for 25 years, its actually quite hard these days to pick 3-5 of my best, but Ill try and give a range of multi cutural.
The restaurants below will offer great value for money.
We also eat at a lot of warungs for Indo food, some people love them, like us, others tend to stay away from them, its just a mentality of most people. Most serve excellent food at next to nothing prices.
JAPANESE
Take 44 @ Jl Padma Legian (opposite Posers Bar on the cnr)
Typical Japanese style, sit down at a table in hollowed out floor, greatest choice of Tempra, Sushi, Sashimi and BBq plate, they also have a sit around BBQ plate with your own cheif cooking for you,and a very entertaining cheif in that.
VERY WELL PRICED YOU WILL BE SUPRISED
MEXICAN
TJs Poppies LANE 1
Ive been to Poco Locos (Jl Padma Ultra Legian)many a time, we have found that Tjs is better food, nice tranquil atmosphere and great if you get the big couches, you can have a few Bintangs and let your food go down before the night stroll home.
DROPS
Jl Padma ( Infront of Casa Padma Hotel)
Small rest on rd frontage, serves Al Carte but not expesive and good size serves, its one of those resturants you go to and the food is served to perfection in every way, you would almost take a photo.
MUST TRY.
ZANZI BAR
Beach Front Seminyak @ the end of Double Six
A great beach front location that is always busy, a variety of food to suit any hungry appetite, good size serves and well priced.
The beach front entertainment is always great to watch.
Their are a number of restaurants along the beach front to eat 2 others to recommend are Lanis and Goodies.
GERMAN
Mamas Jl Legian Kuta
The biggest ribs that you will ever buy and tastes great, also I defiantly recommend the pork knucke cooked on a rotisserie, not many people can finish one of these.( I always take my bones to the beach and feed the the dogs)
If you like Sourkraut, you will be battling to find better anywhere.
Last but not Least
THE CHINESE INTERNATIONAL RESTAURANT
Kuta Galleria Jl Patih Jetantik
Im actually not a fan of Chinese food, but if you are like me and enjoy Yum Char for lunch, this is the place to go.
You can order a fantastic range of light tasty food for around 11000rp per serve, we generally have around 6 different serves to share and feel very satisfied when finished.
A word of warning, get there early becacause the place fills with Korean and Chinese very early.
You can then enjoy a walk through Aces hardware after lunch, and if you dont go for chinese and have not been to Aces, then just go and have a look around.
By the way the food court on the ground floor is great cheap food as well.
Cheers I hope this may help
