A friend and I just booked last week for a trip in August. We tried every option ie Singapore Airlines, Virgin/Garuda via Melbourne & Sydney, Garuda from Perth, Qantas via Perth, to Darwin and then Air North to Denpasar. We looked at booking directly over the net and also through a travel agent. Singapore Airlines was probably the cheapest however the Olympics are on at that time and is making getting flights with them nearly impossible. We got quotes one day, tried to book the following, only to be told no seats available.

We eventually booked Qantas via Perth (unfortunately arrives in Denpasar at 12.20 am) with first 6 nights accomodation at Bali Garden for $1385 including taxes.

Things for that time seem to be changing daily, if not hourly. Best advice is get a few quotes and then go and see an agent you are happy with and book and pay deposit as soon as they can come up with a suitable option for you.

This is what we ended up doing as everytime we got a quote in by the time we went to book it (next day) the option was no longer available.

We ended up booking with Escape Travel at Elizabeth shopping centre. We saw Adriana Campbell who is the manager at that store. I hope this information helps.
