We looked at and booked Padma Hotel a couple of years ago. Had to go for a minimum 3 days package. We were staying in a small hotel, enjoying it thoroughly and walked thru the Padma to check it out. We changed our minds, saved a few hundred dollars and stayed where we were. The Balinese celebrate Nyepi by returning to their villages, so hotel staffing is minimal. The way to celebrate Nyepi is by watching the Ogah Ogah parade the night before, then respecting the Balinese tradition and remaining quieter on Nyepi, with curtains closed and lighting reduced.
I have really enjoyed being in Bali over Nyepi, but unfortunately this year I couldnt manage Nyepi and Easter and direct flight from Melbourne, thus I will be there the day after Nyepi.

As the spirits fly over Bali, they are supposed to be confused by no-one in Bali and fly off to another island.
