different opinions about the BGH and it may come down to room numbers.
We have stayed at BGH a couple of times and loved it, last trip they were booked out so went elsewhere and it was great.
We called in at BGH to catch up with friends and were actually glad we couldn't get in at that time :-)
I lost a shoe about a foot under a "black quicksand" pile of dirt as we ran from the hotel past the pool renovations to the beach (pouring at the time) quite funny really.
That of course was a temporary problem and the ground and pools will be fantastic once established.
The pool room bar is now very nice but a bit like a local bar at home, I missed the "Baliness" of it, the decor, the dog eared books travellers had read and left there, the crookedly hung things on the walls etc etc.
It was a change to OUR memories of BGH, but would still stay and enjoy it there again.
Haven't seen cockroaches, thought the breakfast was great because you can order what you want if it's not visable. eg. poached eggs and Cookie will make your eggs fried as you like them or an omelet.
When I said room numbers matter, I personally think that the rooms at the front, below ground level, would not see much sun and have the musky mould thing happening, being darker and ground level cockroaches may find that their perfect playground. Those rooms may be allocated to the one nighters..guessing only.
We wouldn't book the rooms on the wing, that are visable from the breakfast area, for as soon as we wake and go straight out onto the balcony to see "the day" that sight may put people off eating all day.
The fourth floor looks interesting as our next choice, balcony views of sunset/grounds and a roof top area at the back to check out the streets, perfect? don't know but may find out.
Post your concerns and get answers, I would not be as long winded again.
Hope you have a great trip.
