surfing lesson, a morning session where she actually ended up standing and surfing by the end of it. She was also given a dvd in with the price showing hers and the rest of the groups efforts. There was 4 in her group and 2 trainers so really good tuition numbers. This was at a place at the end of one of the poppies lanes facing the beach. There are heaps of companies to choose from though. Another idea is to take a walk along the beach and ask one of the locals surfing to give you a lesson one on one.
I did snorkeling for the first time ever off the Tanjung Benoa beach, we hired a local to take us out on his boat, we could have hired the gear as well but we had our own. I had been practising at home in the pool so you can imagine my shock when I had to jump from the boat into these waves. I thought I would drown but the guy that took us out never let go of my hand, I felt so safe, when he fed the fish he stretched down as far as he could without letting go of my hand. There was plenty of fish to see and plenty of others having a go at snorkeling where he took us.....lots of very scared Japanese people having a go even though they couldn't even swim, very courageous of them. Anyway a week later we went over to Nusa Lembongan and did some snoreling and this was definetely heaps better for fish varieties. I'm told that Candi Dasa, Amed and Padang Bai are the places to go for really good snorkeling and diving.
Diving classes and diving tours are on offer everywhere.
