We stay at the Goodearth when we want a night out. Go to perth hotels dot com and you can get an executive room (kitchenette and sep bedroom)with buffet breakfast for $103 per room per night. A few minutes walk into the city and free CAT bus outside. They have a little wine bar and restaurant. We have tried all the rooms and find the executive the nicest. There is no pool but the rooms are clean and tidy with all that you need. We have stayed at the Hyatt, Aldernay on Hay and a few others but none are as good value as the Goodearth. There is a bottleshop and supermarket a couple of minutes walk away. Good luck.
