We stayed at the Baleka 4 years ago. Looking from the front we were in a room on the right hand side about two thirds of the way down. I was locked in my room due to lock failure and my wife had to wait outside for an hour or so whilst the door was removed. We were then moved to a unit at the front on the left hand side. No lock on the door. There was a chain through the door and you affixed a padlock to it to secure the room. The room was very basic. The toilet was adjacent to the bath/shower and faced the bath. When you sat down for a squat I had to take off my trousers so I could spread my legs wide enough to sit on the thing. My head and shoulders then hung over the bath. The toilet seat to bath was about 10 inches (25cm).The airconditioner failed on a couple of occasions. Breakfast included was served in the restaurant at the front of the place and was very basic. Bali mangy dogs wandered into the restaurant every day and were fed by some of the inane customers. It was offputting to say the least.Cups were stained, linen clean but thin and tired. Difficuly communicating as English poor. Staff fair. You can't expect much better when staying in a budget place. It was part of a package and we were unaware of the standard. It did not ruin our holiday but made us much wiser and we laugh about it now.
In a multitude of overseas trips to most corners of the world this rates as the worst accommodation.
