as part of a packege, are really a good way to spend a lot more than you need to before you even get to Bali.
At $20 to $25 a head V's maybe $6 - $10 for up to 4 people (without too much luggage!)this is a few Bintangs.
Even if you have to double up on taxis it is much cheaper, and very easy.
You will sometimes find that the guy that you think is the taxi driver, who grabs your bags to take to the car, in fact isn't, he's a porter and will want a tip.
If you are happy for this to happen, no problem.
If you don't want assistance, just ask the guy "are you our driver?", and politely decline the offer of the service offered.
Another way is to get either partner to wait away from the taxi office area with bags, while the other queues at the window with just a small carry on bag.
Porters will not be interested in this passenger.
Once you get your paper chit, identify the driver (he will come to you), and then collect luggage and move off.
It may seem petty, but can avoid embarassement especially for newcomers, not knowing how much to tip, or maybe only having O/S money, and asked for a "paper banknote" for a relatively simple office to car service.
