I had a similar ear infection on the Gold Coast a few years back. I know the exact feeling of the throbbing pain. Horrible stuff.
Each time I go to Bali I take "Aquaear" and put in a few drops after a swim in the pools. The bacteria in the hotel pools is what causes the infection.
My doctor told me that you shouldn't fly with an ear infection as you the pressure in the plane can burst an ear drum. Sounds pretty scary!
