boardhire questions please

These questions are on behalf of my friend's son.
How much does it cost(approx) to hire a board at Kuta (near BGH)?
Do they have short, long or mals?
Are they in great condition or pretty bad and should he buy one over there and bring it back?? Sorry for all these but he is excited and only 15, going in April.
