I have just come back from staying at the Kartika for the second time and the Patra for the second time. Advantage of the Kartika is its close to everything whilst the Patra is a bit more isolated (either a walk along the beach to the main strip or a 15- 20,000 taxi ride). The Patra does have the advantage though of the accommodation being spread out on their very large grounds and you do get a more private feel - which is great! I loved both hotels - Kartika has a better breakfast than the Patra and a better pool but the Patra has nicer staff and is less crowded! Good luck!
