that's what Ubud really needs!
Are we honestly, isn't it so boring to listen to this gamelan bimbam all the time wherever you go and then, there is no nightlife at all in Ubud!
From my point of view some more cultural diversity is absolutely appreciated, but this should be also co-ordinated in some way.
When we played with our Bavarian brass orchestra in Café Lotus last year (the Japanese loved it) our guys had difficulties sometimes to stay in rhythm due to this damn gamelan combo just beside, then at the same time there was also this show with the samba girls in Warung Ayu and a bit further down in Monkey Forest Lane, the flamenco dancers from Andalusia, in the Jazz café they had Salsa & Merengue, the Irish folk band in Café Wayan was in direct competition to the free jazz combo across the street (terrible).
You see - it needs some co-ordination and don't forget, the Balinese do also want to perform their dances from time to time, although it's hard to achieve any kind of co-ordination with them, but the don't have amplifiers, so they wouldn't bother a heavy metal band much.
Best regards
Thorsten ;-)
