recognize the place, my first trip to Sanur was 1982, I've been back a few times since then so seeing the change was gradual.
You will love Sanur it's a very relaxed, easy place to visit, where are you staying?
I haven't being to Singapore but know a few people who have, it sounds like you can't really compare the shopping as the two places are so different. There is lots and lots of shopping at Sanur, also Kuta/Legian area is an easy distance by taxi, I did find Kuta had newer stock in regard to fashion.
Kite surfing at Sanur? can't remember seeing anyone doing it, but there is plenty of wind at Sanur and they hire everything else so someone probably has something for hire, just watch the reef OUCH!
As for a driver we got a few names and numbers off here and had pre booked a guy to pick us up at the airport, but not once did we get who we rang, it was always their brother or cousin who turned up, not that it mattered they were all really nice, but in the end we would just talk to the guys out side what ever hotel we stayed at and went with whoever we clicked with, found some great people this way.
