I'm really suprised by your comment gillb...the terrain, the lush forests, the tranquility. I'd of thought that's as 'genuine Bali' as you can get. I can understand your views that the opulence of the architecture would be very much at home in Nusa Dua, but I don't believe that in any way contradicts its environs. In fact, I would suggest that it harmonises perfectly with the Ubud environs. Surely the pristine nature of this space is closer to the genuine Bali than something like Carrefour which is just one step away from being Westfield Denpasar - or, to coin your euphemism, kinda like sticking Ikea in George Street, or Stirling! Perhaps the key point in your comment was that this is so unlike Bali for you - there are other faces to Bali that offer you exactly the experience you are looking for; this just doesn't happen to be one of them. That's the really great thing about Bali...it has something for just about everyone. I guess it's so easy to overlook the fact that we all seek different things from a place like Bali and nobody's view or opinion on the place is any more valid than the next person's. Cheers - keviin
