Ubub is usually known as the arts centre of Bali but it is really much more. The presence of a Royal Palace, still occupied but partially open to visitors, suggests a long history and in fact Ubud might also be called the cradle of Bali. There are many tenples and historical sites that preceed current memory of their original functions and archaeologists and historans only speculate about them.
