I've slowly come to the realization that food is something we all use to anesethize (sp?) ourselves with. I know when I'm stressed I turn to food, particuarly high-fat. (Of course, could I make a worse choice if I tried?) I know that one trick which helped me, was to be consciously aware of not needing to control tomorrow, I only need to manage my choices for today.
I've just re-read your message, and it strikes me that SO many of us, simply don't know 'that we use food as a replacement', so you're already ahead of the game, even if it doesn't feel like that at the moment.
Maybe the fact that you've frightened yourself is entirely a positive one, as you KNOW you need to change.
why not try that old trick of writing down the 'negative' behaviour, then what you want them to become, and then whats the ones stopping you.
Honestly, my hearts with you, just be a little kinder to yourself at the moment. REMEMBER, kindness is NOT food, it's different....
