I had no complaints about the Air North service, how they dealt with customers when confronted with a mechanical fault, or the service provided by Skyairworld.

Both airlines use Embraer 170 jets with capacity of about 80 people configured 2 + 2. There is no entertainment provided but a meal is provided as well as a free bar service.

For Darwin residents the flight times work out very well departing at 7:30pm on Wednesdays and Sundays, returning at 1:30am Thursdays and Mondays.

Check-in in Darwin is handled by Air North staff while in Bali the same agents who handle Qantas and Jetstar flights provided an efficient service.

Baggage allowance is a slight issue but did not cause us a concern. Officially you are only guaranteed 13kg but 20kg will be carried free of charge subject to capacity. We had 40kg between us and had no problem. Carry-on is similarly limited to 4kg instead of the normal 7kg although we and others clearly had more than this with no problems.

With only 80 passengers getting on and off is a breeze and I just hope that Air North can make sufficient profit on the route to maintain or hopefully increase services.
