We have stopped in both and enjoyed them. I do not like making comparisons, but I can say we moved to MBR when PR was being renovated, and we have not gone back to PR. We take a suite in the old section, which is towards the beach. I can add that friends who could not get into PR in Aug this year stayed in a superior room at MBR and have booked in at PR for next Aug. It depends on your taste and preferences. We like the big room and separate lounge area, but our friends like the atmosphere and action around the PR pool.
