Comes in various strengths and quality. For instance I bought a bottle for 25000R which was about 25% alcohol, cloudy and half ended up down the sink. A 55000R bottle was clear, 40% and a very pleasant drink when mixed with fruit juice. Its an acquired taste..my wife didn't like it even with juice wheras I could drink it neat.
Never had more than a couple of measures so can't advise on the after effects.
Didn't drink arak in restaurants as prices tended to be silly...saw an arak attack which is just arak with juice 40000 for a serve.
