any problems using a Bali Sim card of any sort in Ubud & have made many trips there. You should pay no more than down South.I suggest you go to the big supermarket in Jalan Raya Ubud (the road at the top of Monkey Forrest Rd) - it's the same street as the Ubud markets.I think it's a short walk west of the Ubud market.Food/drinks are about the same in this big supermarket as any of the local Circle K stores but this store has a bigger selection.
Alternatively any of the Circle K stores will also sell Sim cards - just make sure they can set it up for you ,if you do buy from them
please confirm that they know how to set up your phone with the Bali Sim card before you hand over your money.
The best money exchange place we have used in Ubud is the one at the post office /Internet shop that is in Jalan Raya Ubud. It's on the same side of the street as the market & a short walk East from the market, glass fronted shop.
BTW - if anyone is interested you can also send faxes from this place at low cost.We had to contact our staff & bank in writing when in Ubud on one trip & is was a breeze to do it at this place.
If you don't have accomodation already booked I suggest the Ubud Village,if you want info send us an email I can provide direct details to get a better rate.
I also have info on our favourite places to eat if you want me to send that to you.
