Early in the year Sanur Beach Hotel - 450 rooms - was struggling at 20-30% occupancy but lately has been running at 90+%. Other hotels are also doing much better. The main road is active again and restaurants along the beach are doing well. Also a lot of redevelopment and improvement of businesses which is good sign of optimism and a response to the change.
The biggest shift in Bali tourism as I see it is the shift away from older and cheaper areas like Kuta to better areas and visitors in general having different interests from before. The activities described in most BTF JBRs reflect the interests of a very small minority of Bali visitors.
