The figures for arrivals - over 140,000 foreign arrivals - last month are real and much of Bali is busy and full of activity. You have to remember that Aussie arrivals are only 10% of foreign arrivals and only about 6% of all tourists so the old favourite Aussie haunts of Kuta/Legian are indeed quieter but overall numbers of arrivals have never been higher. Sanur is doing well as are Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, Benoa, Ubud and the many villas on the Bukit. Cheap shopping is not on the agenda of the majority of current visitors. Several new countries such as China, Russia, Taiwan, South Korea, India are now producing good numbers of visitors and most are staying up-market and out exploring Bali ather than staying in one area and shopping.
