Have heard good reports about Ketut's place but have not stayed there. Can appreciate that you would like a change of scenery while in Ubud. We often stay at two different locations on each visit so that we can explore the different areas. One of our favourite places is a small hotel now called Samhita Gardens which is on Jl.Bisma. This is a lovely quiet little street which runs off the main road, next to the school. There is a very good restaurant next door called Cafe de Artistes, owned by a Belgian, and the food is delicious, and reasonably priced. The Samhita may be too expensive, around $65US per night, but there are quite a few other small hotels on the same street, including the Honeymoon Guesthouse and Nick's Place. Another area which is pleasant to stay in is up the hill past the bridge; there are a number of expensive hotels here but one which is affordable and very pleasant is the Ananda Cottages, we stayed here several years ago, and my sister stayed just two years ago and said she would go back again. They do have family units as well. Have a wonderful holiday.
