So the 8.30 am boat trip from Lembongan to Sanur was really smooth, as we were pulling into the beach at Sanur, the porters were waiting on the beach, I started teasing my hubby, as we could see the same porter that had been angry with him on the trip over, I kept telling him, that the porter was going to drop his bag in the water!
No one dropped our bags and this time we just paid the RP50,000 and they even carried our bags to the taxi.
I had booked the Besakih Beach Resort for 7 nights via email, when I booked the hotel it was #2 on the trip advisor review list, by the time we were ready to leave Australia it had gone down to #14, I was really worried and we agreed we would not stay there if we didn't like it.
We got there at 9.30 am and they were happy to let us check in early, we had connecting rooms, #236 & #234.
From what I had read, and the photos I had seen, I knew that the rooms would be quite plain, and they looked just like the photos.
Our rooms were right at the pool end of the main block, they had a nice leafy outlook. The rooms were a good size, but as soon as we opened the doors you could smell that musty smell, as if they had been closed up a very long time, OK we can live with that, the sheets and towels were clean, floor clean, bathroom YUK! now it really was not nice, it seemed to me that they only cleaned with water? the grout in the tiles was black with mould, but like a thick, gooey mould. I'm screwing my face up just typing this, the walls around the toilets, not clean. We looked at each other and agreed, not happy, so it's early, we have the whole day to look around.
We grab the kids and walk through the lush grounds, past the perfect sparkling pools, towards the beach, hmm, it looks so nice.
We drag our two little, exhausted kids on the long walk to the "Hyatt" and back, then walk the other way past "The Beach Cafe". We walked through a few hotels, we looked at rooms at the "Gazebo" but the whole place had a run down look to it, although we talked to a lady who was staying there and she said it was nice, the rooms we saw were not very nice.
Then we looked at "Tandjung Sari", right next door to the "Besakih", OOH!! so beautiful, they showed us two different rooms both were soooo nice, but not the place for us as a family. If we go to Bali without the kids we will definitely stay here.
Back to the "Besakih" for lunch (best satay), we then go to the front desk and tell them we are not happy with our rooms, the girl showed us another set of rooms, but they were way up the front near the road. We have a talk and decide to stay in our rooms, the pools, grounds and the staff are so nice.
So with my little bottles of dettol, aquim gel, and masses of really hot Besakih water, I spend 2 hours cleaning the bathrooms and dah dah, nice clean bathrooms, a quick wipe around the doors etc. and dah dah room smells fresh, problem solved!! I can highly recommend rooms #236 and #234 as having very clean bathrooms.
In hind sight we should of called house keeping, but we had told the front desk the problem and no one had come, also we thought we would see how we went the next day, and I would of felt bad, making them clean it only to leave.

In the end we loved the "Besakih", for us it was great, the pools were lush, the food some of the best, the staff could not of been nicer, and we didn't spend to much time in our rooms anyway.

Although every now and then hubby would comment on the rooms at the "Tandjung Sari", yes they looked very romantic, maybe next time.
