I rang Garuda after not getting a reply to my email.
The reply I got regarding why the planes are overbooked and why the cramped and uncomfortable conditions was that the normal plane used for that route was having maintenance done on it and apparently out of action for 4 weeks. They have put on a smaller plane which obviously isn't going to cater for the numbers that have been booked. Whether that has anything to do with delays .. who knows .. but definately has something to do with the overbooking of flights to and from Perth.
A plane that can't fly in fog .. hmmm now thats a new one.
