Send it by EMS (Express Mail Service) at any post office, but the post office in Legian on Jl. Legian has great rates. Dont go to the main post office in Kuta/Tuban - they charge more for foreigners.
EMS to melbourne usually takes 3 days (so guessing Darwin should be about the same) - I have sent loads and my sister in law regualary sends me items from Bali - we have never had a problem with items going missing. Customs will open if they need to and then send on.
It's pretty well priced too - much better than excess and so easy to do.
