if you are after hippy stuff - however mostly all over bali tourist markets you will find 'hippy' type clothing. Albeit a little different from what we consider 'hippy' in aust.
From my experience, Ubud markets are much higher in price than in Kuta. Usually because the clientel who stay there have more $$ and the locals know this (good on them I say!) So if you are after a bargain head to kuta for a day. Anywhere in kuta/legian you will find many markets etc - trust me, you can't miss them.
Hair brushes? Try Matahari. I can't remember if they have those big paddle brushes but i'd say this would be your best bet. Kuta Square Matahari would be best.
